Chichen Itza

stay: Iberostar (we were here for a wedding)

We planned this trip around a wedding where I was a plus one. Not how I would typically approach booking a vacation, but staying at a resort was undoubtably a great time. I subconsciously took notes for my future destination wedding, because let's face it, what better way to 1. celebrate and 2. shave off the people who won't make the effort to come.

We booked a Chichen Itza tour months in advance through viator with Amigo Tours, and they cancelled two days before, so f**K them! I was determined to see this, so we were forced to book an excursion with the resort. This put me at ease until we had to wake up for the tour. We had too many tequila shots he night before; never have I woken up after 5 hours of sleep and just resumed the feeling of being drunk as if I just blinked. Between the headaches, indigestion and the claustrophobia for hours in a tour bus, I wasn't having it. The feeling eventually subsided, and by the time the brutal rain shower ended (which occurred while reluctantly plunging in a cenote), the clouds dissipated and a rainbow beamed over the ancient ruins.
